1. Prepare your asparagus
The first thing you’ll need to do is prepare your asparagus. The end of the asparagus can be pretty woody, which is something that almost nobody likes.
Grab one asparagus, and snap it in two parts. Where it breaks naturally, that’s the part the woody part of the asparagus ends.
To easily cut the others, lay your cut asparagus in one line with the others and use a kitchen knife to cut them all at once in the same spot.
2. Start the blanching
Cook up a pot of boiling water, and place your asparagus in them for about 30 to 45 seconds until the asparagus get that vivid green color.

There are multiple benefits to not blanching your asparagus before freezing them, such as preserving both the color and texture. Next to that, it’s also possible to salt them before freezing them, which is not possible when you would blanch your asparagus.

- Grab a steam basket and bring the water underneath to boil.
